OVER 15 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE TEACHING MUSIC LESSONS!!!
With a Bachelor’s in Music Education, I have become very proficient in teaching every instrument type:
(Brass, Woodwind, Piano/Keyboard, Drums, Guitar, Orch. Strings ). It is a passion of mine to learn many different styles of teaching to match what would be best for the student and create progress.
PROCESS AND PROGRESS-STYLED LEARNING IS KEY TO SUCCESS.
One of the biggest hindrances to individuals wanting to learn a musical instrument is the feeling of making enough progress for the investment. A lot of people struggle with the fact that they don’t necessarily know how to make gains on creating music. It is the same even with people who want to get in shape or work out, just going to the gym isn’t enough, you have to have a plan and you also need to know the ins and outs of what you are trying to accomplish so that you don’t instill a quirk or a portion of the skill that you have worked that will have to change.
That is where process and progress learning comes into play.
“Process Learning” is in regards to how it needs to be done for its most efficient manner, which may mean that it may take a period of time to master that skill so that it can be done the same way efficiently.
“Progress Learning” is quite different from “Process Learning” as it pertains to a very specific goal whether it is a particular piece of music or a pattern or style of playing an individual wants to learn. These seem much more tangible however, without the right skills involved or the efficiency to do them well or quickly, students tend to struggle with the fact that they are not “getting it”.
I help every student come up with tangible goals that not only can be done over the course of a few lessons but goals that can be done during a single lesson, which adds momentum to the whole learning process. I also strive to teach my students the best technique and skills possible so that they do not have unlearn anything and can focus on what they want to do the most… which is making music!!!!
